Georgian Coral Bead Necklace with attached 9ct Gold Coral Mourning Pin Pendant in Antique Box. Coral was seen as an important amulet in the Regency era and was particularly favoured by Lovers. Beads were also given to young children to protect them against witchcraft which is why in those beautiful Georgian miniatures we so often see these Coral Necklaces elegantly worn round the neck. This wonderful Regency Marriage consists of an 18 inch length of beautiful Antique Salmon Coral Beads with a beautifully matched Georgian Coral Mourning or Fichu Pin Pendant that simply looks like it was meant to be for ever.

These items have been together for a long time and want to stay that way. They will come to you in the lovely Antique Box shown in the photograph that came from a long gone jewellers in the beautiful English City of York although not as old as the beads and pin a nice Antique and velvet lined protective box to keep and display them in. At some point in the distant past the pin has been removed from the back of the Coral Mourning Brooch for pure practical and aesthetic reasons to make it sit more flatteringly and comfortably on the neck. The beads are beautifully graduated along the 18 inch choker necklace that is designed to sit quite high on the neck as was the fashion in the Regency Era. The largest beads are approximately 7 mms oval down to the very tiniest which are 3.5 x 2mms on the oval.

The pretty 9ct Gold closed back Mourning Pin Pendant measures approximately 22 mms x 15 mms. The rectangular coral in the centre 15 mms x 7 mms approximately. There is some slight abrasion and a mark to the reverse of the brooch where the pin was removed but of course this is no problem as completely invisible from the front when worn. A later bolt ring fastener has also been attached to the beads at some point for added security against losing the necklace. Approximately two centuries of history abound in this wonderful old necklace for you to still enjoy and wear.
