WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT: Leekya Deyuse was considered the greatest Zuni carver of all time. The leaf form is one of his classic carvings and I guarantee that he is the carver.

This necklace is chillingly gorgeous! It is strung on the original cord on two strands of elongated coral beads. There are eleven Leekya leaf carvings on the necklace with the largest being the central pendant and five smaller carved leaves on each side.

It comes from a private collection and it is one of the great treasures in Zuni history. There are similar leaves of his depicted in the CG Wallace catalog, but not a whole necklace made of them.

It's a completely wonderful necklace which I'd wear every day -- his carvings have life. I find his work to always be breathtaking and the most collectible of all.

Wallace and is well represented in the C. He was known not only for his fetishes but also for his leaves.

Truly a great master, his work commands top prices and is in the best museums and galleries. It is so hard to find his authentic work though I have seen misattributed work of his as recently as today. It's not like you'll have a lot of other opportunities to have one of his authentic pieces, and if you do, I'd recommend collecting them all.

They all have a powerful spirit. This is a museum quality piece.

He is one of the most important Zuni artists from the CG Wallace period and his naturalistic free form style of work has become one of the hallmarks of that era. CONDITION: The carvings are in excellent condition. You can see some natural crevices in a few, which seem to be natural matrix and an apparent crack in the main stone which I think is also probably natural to the piece; not damage. I thought a few might be broken at first but when I looked closely I saw they were finished so I believe all are in their original state. I see no issues with the coral beads.

And I see nothing on the necklace that endangers the integrity of the piece. Central carving 1-1/4" H x 1" W x 7/8 Thick. Length end to end with clasp is 23. It fits over my head without opening the clasp.

Hanging length is about 12-3/8 from top of clasp to bottom of central drop. There are ten additional leaf carvings, five on a side, varying sizes. Unsigned but the attribution is with high confidence and guaranteed to be Leekya Deyuse.

SUMMARY: This necklace is a great unique masterpiece carved leaf necklace by Leekya Deyuse strung on double original coral elongated beads, the absolute best necklace for anyone to wear and collect. It is more beautiful than these pictures convey. There is a large leaf central pendant and ten more smaller carved turquoise leaves: five on each side. The soft colorations are elegant and the design simple but the carvings are fabulous and have life as his carvings always do.

You can never do better than this. It is so hard to find authentic Leekya necklaces! And there are none just like this one, of course.
