Vintage Chinese Shou Carved Shell Beads Coral Color Sterling Necklace 33

  

Light and versatile to wear! Beautifully carved out of natural SHELL with the Shou (longevity symbol), the beads that make up this necklace range from a very pale coral color to a deeper shade of the same.

The 93 beads (approximately 8mm) alternate with tiny gold vermeil (24kt gold over sterling silver) faceted beads. This remarkably flexible and light necklace falls in just the right way to wear as a single strand or doubled.

The necklace is 33 long, with an ornate oval gold vermeil clasp with a genuine red coral cabochon at the center. Even though the back has been marked silver (see photo), the clasp has been tested to be sterling. Note that because of different hole sizes, some of the tiny faceted beads were swallowed by the larger shell beads, but are still there.
