Mid-Century Silver Dragon Coral Pendant Hardstone Nephrite Jade Bead Necklace

  

For your consideration, this mid-century silver dragon coral pendant hardstone nephrite jade bead necklace. A Chinese hard-stone bead necklace with a coral and silver center drop, the pendant drop depicting a dragons head with the mouth (depicted in coral), coral set eyes and a single coral bead above the mask. Pendant is unmarked but tested as 97.8% Silver with a gold filled clasp on the necklace. Hardstone nephrite jade is a spinach color and each average 8mm in size. Pendant measures 1 3/4"H x 1 1/4"W not including bale.

Necklace is approximately 18 long. Made in China in the 1950 period. Many of these wares were available at this period and followed the fashion of the 1920-30 period, it was not until the mid 1960-70s that the styles started to take on the more modern approach to manufacture and style. Precious metal content was tested with a Niton DXL precious metal XRF analyzer. Pendant necklace is presented in very good overall condition under magnification, shows normal wear for age.
