Vintage Italian Red Coral Torsade 7 Strands Necklace g 17.5 inches 36 grams

  

All pictures are part of the description. This coral necklace is an old torsade bought in the 1970's in Italy as a souvenir. Made of 7 strands of round cut Mediterranean coral beads, the overall aspect of the necklace is lovely despite the natural imperfections of the coral. There are 5 strands of approx.

3 mm coral beads and 2 strands of 1.5 mm to 2 mm coral beads. Observing the necklace without a loupe you cannot notice the pits in the coral. The color is vivid, a dark salmon color getting very close to the color of red tomatoes that are not completely ripe. Length of the torsade is 17.5. Weight of the torsade necklace is 35.93 grams. The clasp is an old gold washed silver (800 silver fineness) round spring clasp working perfectly.
